Vadlo Privacy Policy
Vadlo (વડલો) is a mobile app that lets a family keep its family tree (vanshavali) in one place. This policy explains what information Vadlo collects, how it is used, who can see it, and the choices you have. By using Vadlo you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address. We use your name to fill in your profile.
- Contact number (optional). A family admin may add a phone number so that members of their family can reach them. You can leave this blank.
- Family tree information. The details that you and your family members enter: names, relationships (who is whose father, son or daughter), whether a person is living or has passed away, and any other details you choose to add for each member.
- Family and village. The surname and village of the family you join.
- Suggestions and requests. Changes you propose to the tree, and place corrections you suggest, so that an admin can review them.
- Usage and crash data. Google Firebase Analytics records which screens are opened and a few actions, such as signing in or sending a change. Firebase Crashlytics records crash reports. This data is tied to an anonymous app-install identifier. It never includes your name, email address, or what you enter in the family tree.
- Session recordings. Microsoft Clarity records anonymous recordings of taps and scrolling, so that we can see where people get stuck. Text and typed input are masked, and recordings are not made in development builds.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or photos.
2. How we use your information
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To build and display your family tree.
- To let family admins review, approve or reject changes.
- To let family members contact their admin.
- To respond to your support requests and improve the app.
- To see which screens are used and to find and fix crashes, using the anonymous usage, crash and session-recording data described in section 1.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show advertising in Vadlo.
3. Who can see your information
- Your family. Members of your family can see your family's tree, and the name, email address and (if shared) phone number of the family admin.
- Your village (only if the admin allows it). A family admin can choose “Share with my village”. When this is on, people who have joined another family in the same village can view the tree, but cannot change it. When it is off, only members of the family can see the tree.
- Vadlo administrators. The people who run Vadlo can access data as needed to operate the service, review suggested place corrections and handle support requests.
- Service providers. Your data is stored and processed by the cloud services that run Vadlo (for sign-in, database and hosting). They handle it only to provide those services.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
We do not share your information with anyone else.
4. Information about other people
A family tree necessarily includes information about other people, including relatives who are children or who have passed away. Please add only information that you are comfortable sharing with your family. If you are the subject of an entry and want it corrected or removed, contact us or your family admin.
5. Children
Vadlo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. Children may appear as entries in a family tree added by an adult relative; we ask that only the minimum necessary details be entered for them.
6. Data retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active and while it is needed to keep your family's tree.
Deleting your account. In the app, open Settings and choose Delete my account. This permanently removes your sign-in, name, email address and phone number, cancels your pending requests, and removes your name from approval and activity records. A family admin must first hand over admin access to another member, unless they are the only member left. The family tree belongs to the family, so the people already added to it remain for the other family members, but are no longer linked to your account. A family admin can delete a person from the tree in the app (anyone else can suggest the removal to the admin), and you can also ask us to remove any specific entry. If you only joined the wrong family, Settings → Leave this family lets you choose again without deleting your account.
If you cannot open the app, email phoenixcoded@gmail.com from the address you sign in with and we will delete your account and the information you provided within a reasonable time.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access rules that limit data to the people described above. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices
- Add, edit or remove your optional phone number in Settings.
- If you are an admin, choose whether your village can view your tree.
- Delete your account from Settings, or ask us to access, correct or delete your information (see section 6).
- Sign out of the app at any time from Settings.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available at this page and in the app under Settings → Privacy Policy, with the effective date updated above.
10. This website
This website is a simple set of pages. It does not use cookies, does not run analytics or advertising scripts, and does not load fonts or scripts from other companies. Like any web host, the service that serves these pages may keep ordinary server logs (such as the time of a request and the visitor's IP address) for security and reliability. If you write to us by email, we use your message and address only to reply to you.
